Whether you love it or hate it climbing stairs, you will have to agree that stair climbing can help you burn tons of calories. It blasts the fat on your butt and your legs more than any other cardio workout. You are not asking you to climb 10 floors to your office and get drained even before you reach work. We are just asking you to take things up a notch with a short workout that can be as good as climbing stairs. So look no further than this 5-minute workout designed by fitness expert Roshni Shah from V’s Fitness Studio, Mumbai.
Knee-ups: Then do the knee-ups. Stand with your feet hip-width apart and bring your knee as close to you your chest as you can. Then hold your and hug your leg for 15 to 20 seconds and then switch sides. Repeat this twice.
Step- ups: Use a small stool and step up and down for 10 to 15 reps. Keep the back straight and core activated to maintain balance. This easy exercise will also help you tone your thighs. You can also climb staircases in your building. Do about five rounds (up and down is one round).Challenge yourself further by using a chair once this feels comfortable. These cardio activities burn the most calories within 30 minutes.
Glute-bridges: Lie on your back and bend your knee such that your knee is firmly planted on the floor. Make sure that you keep your hands by your sides. Slowly raise your buttocks pushing through your heels, squeeze your glutes and slowly release back to the floor. That completes one rep. Do three sets of ten repetitions of this exercise.
Also, make sure that you warm up before you start this workout. Warming up will help increase your range of motion and also prevent injuries at the same time. You must perform these 5 stretches after every workout.
